Where? Union Grove Alabama,
3034-3068 Pine Ridge Road Union Grove, Al 35175 Approximate coordinates: 34.4170695, -86.5936328
What is it? This is a small swimming hole with very cold, milky blue water that flows from a cave attached to a swimming hole.
Is it hard to get to? No. It’s right off the side of the road. Copy and paste the address above to the map in your phone.
How deep is it? The water is chest high on me and I’m a smidgen above average for a female. I’m a little leary of giving you my height in case you want to stalk me out and make a skin suit out of me. There is an area to sit and wade that isn’t deep at all. You definitely can’t dive here.
Any other details? I do not know who owns the land. Locals have been here every time we’ve been. There is a geocache hidden there and also a trail that leads to the top of the cave. I don’t know who owns this land. The area around the swimming hole as well as the swimming hole itself is shady and beautiful! There are large boulders that lead up a hill, but I didn’t see a trail. I will definitely be back after snake season.
Leave no trace: As you can guess, since it’s easily accessible, there was some trash present. If I see one more Mcdonald’s wrapper I’m going to track down whoever left it and give it back to them. It drives me insane to see places like this with litter everywhere. I can tell there is a person or group trying to keep up the area. There were signs and the place was more clean than most roadside hot spots.
