Where? Highway 280 in the Hoover/Mt Brook area (via The Cahaba River). Latitude: 33.4319 Longitude -86.7135 Copy and paste 33.4319 -86.7135 into maps and this will get you to the access point.
Layman’s directions: When you are traveling down Hwy 280 from the 459 exit with Papadeaux’s on your left and Grandview Medical Center to your right, you will see a bridge that crosses the Cahaba River. The bridge is about 200 yards from Grandview Medical Center. Before crossing the bridge, take a right. This will put you at a stop sign in front of Cahaba River Road. Take a left. You will cross a small, older concrete bridge. Once you cross this bridge, take an immediate left. This take you underneath the Hwy 280 bridge. There is enough space to park 3 vehicles next to the water.
Paddle upstream only from this access point. It’s a beautiful, wide stretch of The Cahaba and the water is deep enough to paddle without dragging, year ’round.
