Where? Tuscumbia, Al 34.72877509929116 -87.70428657531738
What is it? This park is in a suburban area, surrounded by homes and small businesses. The park features a manmade waterfall (Cold Water Falls) and a pond. There’s a paved walking trail and plenty of places to park. There is also some cool petrified wood (I’m not an expert on this) with signs next to each that stating they are more than a million years old. It looks like rocks with rings in it, so perhaps it is petrified wood.
What else is there to do? Plenty. Tuscumbia is near Muscle Shoals, and Florence. Hellen Keller’s home, The Rattlesnake Saloon, The University of North Alabama, caves and so much more are located in this are. On North Broad Street in Tuscumbia, there are many homes still standing and being used, built in the early 1800’s. That is not a typo. The history in this part of the state is amazing! The town of Sheffield has a really cool, large statue and cute, revitalized downtown area that you should drive through. I could write an entire blog post about Sheffield alone, but adventuring is more fun. Go see it!
